Eve of Change is Now Available

It’s been eight years since I wrote the rough draft of Eve of Change. Since then, it’s been tweaked, sections completely rewritten, and edited to within an inch of its life, but finally, it’s live. I’ll include the synopsis at the end of this post for those unfamiliar with the journey this book has taken and I’ll say one totally honest thing about it. I absolutely love this book. I love Eve, I love Tyr, heck, I even love Hel and JoJo…sometimes. My point is that this isn’t just a book I wrote on a whim (yes, I occasionally do that). It’s a book that has filled my thoughts for years and is finally getting the recognition it deserves. So, join Eve on her journey of discovery and treachery. You won’t be disappointed.

Oh, also book two, Eve of Destruction, and book three, Eve of Chaos, are available for preorder with releases coming over the next couple of months.

Eve Gardner has one simple rule: avoid the magical realms. After ten years of hiding in the mortal world, she’s been living the quiet life of a magical human who can steal other people’s powers and use them as her own. Totally normal, right? But her peaceful retreat is shattered when an Underworlder shows up at her door, claiming her teenage daughter, a magical human who was given to Underworld at birth, has vanished. Now, Eve has to step back into the chaos of magic she swore she'd left behind.

First stop? Underland, where Hel, demon ruler and casual hoarder of lost children, claims to have handed the girl off to Tyr, the Odin of Otherworld. Seems simple enough, except Tyr is now convinced the girl is fae. But hold on—how can a human girl just turn fae? That’s not how this works... unless something seriously weird is going on.

Now, Eve’s knee-deep in a magical mystery that ropes her into dealing with the Five—the four most powerful beings across the magical realms. Great. To make matters worse, Eve’s rare ability to swipe magic like it's an all-you-can-eat buffet has painted a target on her back. The last thing the powerful otherworldly rulers want is someone who could turn their powers against them.

Eve’s quest quickly spirals into chaos. She’s kidnapped by the Alatrom, Fomoria’s ruler who’s got his own agenda (because, why not), brain tortured by a forest elf (painful), framed for attempted murder (totally not her fault), and discovers her boyfriend is secretly working for the goddess who raised her (ouch). And just when she thinks things can’t get worse, non-magical humans kidnap her because they think she’s... someone else entirely. Seriously?

But Eve’s not about to let a few—okay, several—life-threatening situations stand in the way of figuring out how a human girl could change species. With her unique ability to steal magic, she might just hold the key to unraveling this whole mess. That is, if she can stay alive long enough to do it.

Eve of Change, the first book in the After the Merging Series, is a fast-paced, hilarious adventure where magic, betrayal, and awkward kidnappings are all in a day’s work. Eve Gardner might be the most wanted woman in the magical realms, but she’s also the one who just might turn the world upside down—again.
